The dream of breaking the cycle, reflections of hopeful futures,
personal identities within social classes and hierarchies. Rena
Chheang’s paintings investigate the lives of women in a Cambodian
city, the condition of its inhabitants and their different and highly
individual paths to development and happiness. The women
portrayed in each of the paintings are naked and exposed showing
frailty and vulnerability. The idea of being buried and suppressed
echoes throughout her portraits and abstract pieces. Her canvas aims
to be a visual poetry, a storytelling tool of the social and political
awareness of a woman’s struggles; i.e domestic abuse, unequal
rights, and forced labor. The colors are disorganized and chaotic, yet
vibrant and fresh. Even within turmoil, there is hope for change.

About the Artist:

Rena Chheang is a Cambodian painter and photographer at Big Eyes
Creative. Her first painting exhibition was in 2014 and ever since
then she has held six solo exhibitions and two group exhibitions. She
has appeared on the Phnom Penh Post, the Cambodian Daily, Khmer
Times, AsiaLife Cambodia May 2018 issue, Forward Magazine June
2018 issue, Sovran Magazine July 2018 issue and Cambodge
Magazine December 2018 issue.
Rena has recently started doing prints of her artwork. High quality
prints on photo paper, on canvas, and on wood as well as tote bags,
postcards and greeting cards are now available. Black frames and
brown glass on glass frames can also be included.

ផ្ទាំងគំនូររបស់ ឈាង រីណា បង្ហាញពីតដ្ឋិភាពនៃជីវិតរបស់ស្ត្រីនៅក្នុងទីក្រុងនៃប្រទេសកម្ពុជា ស្ថានភាពរបស់ប្រជាជន និងមាគ៌ាដើររៀងៗខ្លួន ហើយមានភាពខុសគ្នា ឆ្ពោះទៅការអភិវឌ្ឍន៍និងសុភមង្គល។ 

ស្ត្រីដែលត្រូវបានគូរនៅក្នុងផ្ទាំងគំនូរនីមួយៗ សុទ្ធតែអាក្រាតកាយ និងបង្ហាញពីភាពទន់ខ្សោយ និងងាយរងគ្រោះ។ 

គំនិតនៃការជិះជាន់ និងគ្រៀបសង្កត់បានបង្ហាញចេញពីផ្ទាំងគំនូរ និងស្នាដៃអរូបីរបស់នាង។ ផ្ទាំងក្រណាត់របស់នាងមានគោលបំណង ចង់ធ្វើជាកំណាព្យរបស់ភ្នែក ជាការនិទានរឿងពីចំណេះដឹងផ្នែកសង្គម និងនយោបាយអំពីការតស៊ូរបស់ស្ត្រី ឧទាហរណ៍ អំពើហិង្សាក្នុងគ្រួសារ សិទ្ធិមិនស្មើគ្នា និងការបង្ខំឲ្យធ្វើការជាដើម។ ពណ៌ត្រូវគូសក្នុងភាពរប៉ាត់រប៉ាយ និងវឹកវរ ប៉ុន្តែនៅតែមានលក្ខណៈរស់រវើក និងស្រស់ស្រាយ។ សូម្បីនៅក្នុងភាពច្របូកច្របល់ក៏ដោយ ក៏នៅតែមានក្តីសង្ឃឹមសម្រាប់ការផ្លាស់ប្តូរ។

ឈាង រីណា គឺជាវិចិត្រករ និងអ្នកថតរូបជំនាញនៅ Big Eyes Creative។ គំនូរដំបូងរបស់គាត់ បានដាក់តាំងបង្ហាញកាលពីឆ្នាំ២០១៤ ហើយមកទាល់ពេលនេះ គាត់ធ្វើការតាំងបង្ហាញស្នាដៃផ្ទាល់ខ្លូនចំនួន៦ដង និងបង្ហាញពីក្រុម២ដង។ គាត់ត្រូវបានគេចុះផ្សាយក្នុងគេហទំព័រព័ត៌មានដូចជា ភ្នំពេញប៉ុស្តិ៍, Cambodia Daily, ខេមថាម, ទស្សនាវដ្តីAsiaLIFE Cambodia ចុះផ្សាយខែឧសភា ឆ្នាំ២០១៨, ទស្សនាវដ្តីForward ចុះផ្សាយខែមិថុនា ឆ្នាំ២០១៨, ទស្សនាវដ្តីSovran ចុះផ្សាយខែកក្កដា ឆ្នាំ២០១៨ និងទស្សនាវដ្តីCambodge ចុះផ្សាយខែធ្នូ ឆ្នាំ២០១៨។ ថ្មីៗនេះ រីណាចាប់ផ្តើមធ្វើការបោះពុម្ពស្នាដៃគំនូររបស់គាត់។ ការបោះពុម្ពរូបមានដូចជានៅលើផ្ទាំងរូបថត, ផ្ទាំងគំនូរ, លើឈើ ក៏ដូចជានៅលើ កាបូបស្ពាយ និងកាតសរសេរជាដើម។ ស៊ុមពណ៌ខ្មៅ និងកញ្ចក់ពណ៌ត្នោតលើស៊ុមកញ្ចក់ ក៏អាចធ្វើការបោះពុម្ពបានដែរ។ ស្នាដៃបោះពុម្ពរបស់គាត់ធ្វើការដាក់លក់នៅទីតាំងផ្សេងៗគ្នាៗដូចជា ភោនីយដ្ឋានKhema Laposte, Ginger & Grace, Mere Café និង Beyond Design។
